Course Overview
The 2 year full time Diploma in Animation production course is to provide students with all the essential practical skills and knowledge necessary to work professionally in the field of Animation.  While completing the course students will:-
• Acquire knowledge about the essential technologies involved in the production of animation.
• Work on practical projects that develop or extend their technical and creative animation skills.
• Explore the role of animation in various software applications and multimedia environments.
• Gain an appreciation of the potential of the medium of animation and an ability to analyse and evaluate their own and others work in order to continue their development as animators.
Course Aims
The course has been specifically designed to provide knowledge, understanding, appreciation and skills in the subjects that are fundamental to a successful career in animation.  Course class numbers will be limited to 20 students in order to ensure that every student receives quality training.
1. The aim of the Animation production course is to provide the animation industry with graduates who have a high level of practical industry recognised professional animation skills.
2. The course aims to deliver training methods and assignments that integrate universal animation skills and principles with current animation production methods & procedures, for use in film, television, gaming, and communication, education and entertainment platforms.
3. The course will encourage an understanding of how the tools of animation including the increasingly updated equipment and software, can be best combined with universal creative and artistic skills, to achieve high quality animation production. It will foster an understanding of the importance of ongoing artistic development & up-skilling, education in software & technological developments, industry trend awareness & forecasting, and the need to pro-actively seek & nurture creative and artistic inspiration.
Course Outcomes
On completion of the Diploma in Animation Production, graduates will have competence in all essential skills involved with animation production as well as overall animation business skills. This will enable them to obtain work independently as professional artists and animators or obtain trainee work positions with animation studios or production companies. The qualification will enable international graduates to directly enter the workforce or lead to further animation to further animation study at degree level. 
Career Opportunties
The Diploma in Animation Production course prepares participants for a wide range of careers in the field of animation, including independent animation practice, work for animation,  companies, concept art and storyboarding services, website animation, commercials, music videos, title & motion graphics, children’s television, promotional & training videos, technical animations and design, animation for portable devices, independent films or festival shorts and other screen based media. In addition, students will gain an overall experience that can also lead to employment in the fields of arts and animation research, education and training.
Duration
The course is 2 years in duration and is divided into 3 terms per year, 6 in total.

James has worked on Peter Jackson's King Kong feature film at Weta Workshops, where he helped create the fantasy miniature world of Skull Island. The future looks promising with James now working on Jackson’s and Weta Workshops' next projects including The Hobbit and World War II drama Dambusters.
