The South Seas Diploma in Animation production course is designed to give students practical 2D and 3D animation production skills, combining creative and technical applications for vocational outcomes.
The course is run in close association with the animation industry and is taught by experienced industry professionals.
Students are trained by some of New Zealand’s foremost industry practitioners in character animation, design, directing, layout, storyboarding, editing, lighting and script-writing, using cutting edge film and television production facilities at South Seas. These include the animation studio, fully equipped computer labs, editing and audio recording suites, and lecture facilities.
In the first year students get 'hands on' practical and intensive training in the fundamental skills of animation using 2D and 3D. This comprehensive foundation is focussed on the application of techniques used in character animation, visual effects, and moving image.
During the second year the focus shifts to the complete animation production process. Students explore in much greater depth, animation techniques, creative development, directing and practical skills involved in producing animation.

ANDE SCHURR | 2005
Ande was first inspired to learn the craft of sound recording by South Seas tutor Mike Westgate. "During my time at South Seas, Mike would deliver guest lectures on sound along with his experiences in the film industry. I was thrilled to find someone truly willing to share their knowledge and help others succeed," says Ande. |
