Animation Year 2 Schedule

Subject Week Year 2 - Term 1 (14 weeks)
Layout 01-14 Weekly lectures and assignments covering layout including theory & practical exercises covering character posing,
staging action, lighting, perspective and technical planning.
Direct & Draw 01-14 10 hours per week focussed on pre-production for final student directed projects, including concept art, script, design,
and storyboarding.
Production processes 01-10 2 hours per week theory & practical exercises in animation studio processes, workflow procedures, systems, quotas,
computer file management & file formats, image adjustments and preparation.

Subject Week Year 2 - Term 2 (14 weeks)
Storyboarding 01-14 Weekly lectures and assignments covering storyboarding including theory & practical exercises covering staging, story,
continuity, lighting, perspective and camera planning.
Direct & Draw 01-14 11 hours per week beginning production for final student directed projects, including layout, backgrounds/environments,
lighting & texturing, and animation & effects.
Production processes 01-10 2 hours per week theory & practical exercises in animation studio processes, workflow procedures, systems, quotas,
computer file management & file formats, image adjustments and preparation.
Media Law 01-10 2 hours per week exploring theory and exercises in fair trading, copyright and contractual issues pertaining to animation.

Subject Week Year 2 - Term 3 (14 weeks)
Direct & Draw 01-06 2 hours per week advanced lessons, focussed on refining a broad range of previously taught animation techniques and
processes, including hybrid animation, digital compositing, digital painting, character animation, perspective drawing.
Includes guest lectures, career advice and planning.
Direct & Draw 01-04 40 hours per week focussed on production and post-production for final student directed projects. Includes animation,
camera, additional colouring, digital compositing, audio and post-production.
  04-09 40 hours per week focussed on completing and refining animation, treatment, lighting and camera. Audio is refined and
ongoing progress reporting and review.
  09-14 40 hours per week focussed on post production using Toonboom, Autodesk Maya, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Flash and
Avid. Ongoing progress reports are made with a panel of tutors, mentors and support crew. Students work to adjust and
refine last scenes, make timing and pacing adjustments, arrange audio and musical score or soundtrack. working with
editors review and adjust sequencing, scene lengths, colour adjustments, camera and visual effects, and arrange final
audio.
