The aim of the Diploma in Digital Photography is to provide students with all the practical skills and knowledge necessary to work professionally in the field of digital photography.
While completing the course students will:
- Acquire knowledge about the essential technologies involved in the production of digital images.
- Work on practical projects that develop or extend their technical and creative photographic skills.
- Explore the role of photography in various new media applications and multimedia environments.
- Gain an appreciation of the potential of the medium of digital photography and an ability to analyse and evaluate their own and others' work in order to continue their development as photographers.
The course has been specifically designed to provide knowledge, understanding, appreciation and skills in the subjects that are fundamental to a successful career in digital photography. Course class numbers will be limited to 18 students in order to ensure that every student receives quality training.
South Seas Photography School and Course Background
South Seas Photography School is owned and operated by South Seas Film and Television School Ltd which has been delivering media industry training courses since its establishment in 1991.
South Seas is registered with the New Zealand Qualifications Authority as a Private Training Establishment. The Diploma in Digital Photography course is approved by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority under section 258 of the Education Act 1989 and South Seas Film and Television School is accredited to provide the courses under section 259 of the Act.
South Seas is also a signatory to the New Zealand Ministry of Education’s Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students.

JONATHAN CLARK | 2009 Jonathan Clark won the Best Animation prize at the 2010 South Seas S'Oscars. Toonboom donated their fantastic Toonboom Animate software package to the winner. The prize has helped tremendously as Jonathan begins his professional career. “Toonboom was introduced to me at South Seas Animation School in my first year. In Year 2 we had more in-depth training," he says. “At the moment I’m making independent shorts and am just starting out in the commercial field." Jonathan is also planning his own animation company. |
