Introduction To Animation Production


Students learn about animation from industry experienced animators and artists. Gain experience in many of the techniques used in animation including character design, Maya software tools & workflow, 3D character posing &
expressions, life drawing class including live model (nude), painting digital textures for 3D models, effects animation,
and Flash animation. Digital resources and drawing materials provided. Topics covered may vary between workshops.
At the end of the week, students receive a certificate of completion and take away their favourite pieces of animation
work which may include digital stills, animated clips and hard copy sketches they have worked on. Students should
bring a USB storage device on the final day to transfer any digital versions of their work.
The course tutors will also take time to discuss and answer questions about animation industry careers and the content
and training methods of the South Seas 2 year full time Diploma in Animation Production.

Cost: $276 (Inc GST) Discounted cost if booked and paid by 1 month prior to course start date: $230 (Inc GST)

This 4 day introductory course is designed to give students an insight into the methods and techniques taught and training practices used on the 2‐year full time Diploma in Animation Production course.

 

Course Duration: 4 days

Course Hours: 9:00am to 4:30pm each day

Course Numbers: Max. 16 students

Entry Criteria: Minimum age 16 years with some drawing experience

Facilities: As per fulltime Animation Production course

Course Fees: NZ$276.00 (inc GST)

James has worked on Peter Jackson's King Kong feature film at Weta Workshops, where he helped create the fantasy miniature world of Skull Island. The future looks promising with James now working on Jackson’s and Weta Workshops' next projects including The Hobbit and World War II drama Dambusters.
