Personal Skills
  • An ability to be self-motivated and interdependent. To work with energy, self commitment and focus utilizing their own psyche and vulnerability.
  • An ability to work with directors by adapting to fulfill the production requirements.
  • A level of physical mobility, fitness and flexibility to enable them to draw freely on their physicality as an integral component of characterization development.
Acting Skills
A comprehensive knowledge and practical experience in skills in acting.
  • Listening – to experience the distinction of listening as opposed to hearing, and be able to actively and creatively listen as a character as part of communication in any given situation.
  • Visualization – use their creative imagination to its maximum when visualizing characters and settings. This skill to be used both in auditions and on set whenever required.
  • Voice - to demonstrate an open and free voice allowing full expression and good tone, using resonance, pitch, relaxation and projection.
  • Speech – to have clarity of speech by discovering the energy & muscles needed to create specific sounds.
  • Fitness and flexibility to develop physical fitness, and through yoga, flexibility, awareness and relaxation, allowing the actor to become centered physically, emotionally and mentally.
  • Clarity - to understand and develop clarity of moves, motions, thoughts and intentions for use in characterization.
  • Moves – to demonstrate an ability to move freely to specific marks naturally and with intent.
  • Camera Awareness – to develop a complete awareness of camera positions and shots and be able to adjust performances accordingly.
  • Body Harmony – through Eurythmy. To create an awareness of the human body as a spacial being whilst developing inner awareness and creative response through language, speech and poetry.
  • Emotional Recall – to develop an ability to call on personal experiences in order to truthfully recreate any given emotion.
  • Props – to freely, comfortably and naturally use any given prop in any given situation.
  • Communicating – to employ communication freely and truthfully as a character, combining all the actors physical, emotional intellectual & spiritual talents.
  • Eyes – to develop an understanding of the importance of the eyes in on screen acting and experience the level of authenticity needed.
  • Improvisation – to freely and confidently improvise in any given situation both on set and in audition situations.
  • Focus and energy – to understand & experience the level of focus concentration and flow of interactive energy required to play any scene with depth.
  • Truth – an understanding of the need to inter-react with truth and authenticity at all times.
  • Character Development – a comprehensive knowledge and practical skills in developing a character, utilizing the above skills with effectiveness, style, truth, subtlety and impact.

Script Analysis and Implementation
  • Analysis – to demonstrate creative analysis with any given script, understanding form and style, creative stimuli to enhance the character, kinesthetics of interactions, and scene structure.
  • Sub-text – to understand the depth of sub-text required to portray a scene effectively and truthfully, and to generate this freely and creatively through inner dialogue.
Associated Skills
  • Accents – to have an understanding of the structure of both Australian and West Coast Californian accents in order to recreate them whenever needed.
  • Microphone techniques – to experience and develop vocal techniques needed for radio, voice-over and post sync.
  • Stunts – to have a basic awareness of stunt requirements and choreography and an heightened awareness of safety on set.

Professional Awareness
  • Art - to appreciate the fundamental aim of acting as an art form is the creation of the inner life of a human spirit and expressing it in an artistic form.
  • Job Seeking – to have a knowledge of the casting and auditioning process, with an in depth awareness of the use of: -
  • agents, photos, CVs, show reels etc and become actively involved in their ongoing development.
  • Selflessness – to recognize that acting is not about the actor, but about the character being portrayed, and identify when the viewers focus shifts to the actor and its effect on a scene.
