FREE Animation Workshops 
South Seas is offering beginners' animation workshops absolutely free on the last Saturday of each month in 2010.

These are fun days with our animation tutors, introducing you to concepts of animation and simple exercises.  Exercises include movement drawing with a life model, layout application, character design and a brief introduction to Flash animation.

The workshops are suitable for anyone aged 15 and over, with an interest in Animation.  There are limited spaces available, so book now if you want to secure a spot.  More Information

Introduction to After-Effects
Adobe After Effects
 is industry-standard software used for motion graphics and visual effects for film and broadcast.  The south Seas three-day workshop will introduce you to this powerful motion graphics software.  More Information

Photoshop
Photoshop is without question the world’s leading graphics program for photo-manipulation, digital painting and design and has become an industry standard.   Students will receive a comprehensive introduction to the Photoshop CS4 interface and tools, and use practical exercises designed to progressively build skills throughout the four sessions.  Using this exciting software, students are able to explore endless visual and creative possibilities and extend their design and artistic skills.  More Information

Flash Animation 
Enrol now in our four-week beginners' class in Flash Animation - no experience necessary!  This beginners' course will get you started using Flash animation for everything from TV to websites to greeting cards.  More Information

Life Drawing
Improve your drawing abilities and learn the principles of classical drawing.  Learn how to properly describe form, weight, perspective and balance.  Use tone to show light and describe depth in your drawings. Develop a portfolio of drawings and watch as your skills develop over six classes.  More Information

Maya
Maya is used throughout the film, television and gaming industries to create stunning 3D creatures and worlds, animation and visual effects.  In this introductory course to this amazing program, you will learn all about the endless possibilities to create models and animation using Maya.  Explore the interface and tools, learn how to model, texture, light and animate 3D objects.  Step behind the scenes and see how Maya is used to create believable worlds and characters.  More Information

Learn the techniques and closely guarded tricks of digital artists using Photoshop!  More Information

Drawing for Animation 
This beginners' course is a fantastic introduction to drawing for animation. You will learn valuable techniques to improve your skills... and by the end of the course you will have created your own original character ready to be animated!

RICHARD GREEN | 1993
Richard has found a wide variety of opportunities to use his skills after majoring in Directing and Production at South Seas. He describes himself as a Treaty educator and film maker. His film Te Whare has featured in international film festivals and he is working on a documentary about his 96-year-old grandfather that includes four generations of men in his family.
