Greg has worked in the television production industry since 2000 where he began as a designer for animated TV shows. Having trained as a character animator he soon moved from design into hand-drawn animation for TV. Follwing this he spent 3 years managing large departments in NZ animation studios Slightly Off Beat and Anim8 Studios, working on productions for animation luminaries including Disney, Warner Bros., Nelvana Studios and Silver Fox Films.
His extensive experience includes work on commercials, feature film and music videos, as well as having worked for New Zealand studios Firehorse Films, Yuk Foo Animation Studios and Breakthroughz Animation.
Greg began teaching animation in 2007 and has developed course material and tutored at two other leading New Zealand tertiary institutions.
"For today's 3D animators and artists, the core skills are more important than ever." |
Geoff is a highly motivated and much-nominated animation artist. Having trained in New Zealand and Australia, Geoff began his animation career in 2001 at Slightly Off Beat Animation (later to become Anim8).
More recently he was employed with Walt Disney Animation in Sydney where he worked on six animated feature films, including Brother Bear 2, Cinderella 3 and Mickey, Donald and Goofy's The Three Musketeers.
Geoff says his favourite part of animation is when a character that he has been working on (sometimes for months at a stretch) as a series of hand drawn pictures, finally comes to life and starts moving around and acting with a life of their own.
"It's very rewarding to finally see the result of all of the hard work you and the other artists have put in."
