South Seas is the leader in film and television training in New Zealand. We have worked with the industry for many years to develop, refine and continually update our courses. Many in the industry use us to train their staff and insist on South Seas graduates when they are recruiting new staff.
Our facilities include the latest digital cameras and editing facilities - so you will be using the same gear as the professionals! A demanding schedule of practical projects also ensures you will get to know your craft. In other words, we make it happen - so you can get out there and make your mark.
In the Film and Television Production (FTV) course we initially train you in the essential production skills so that you get a good foundation of knowledge and practical skills in the following:
- Production Management
- Drama/Documentary Directing
- Scriptwriting
- Video Camera Operating
- Lighting
- Sound Recording
- Post Production Editing
- Art and Design
- Studio Production
- Presenting and Interviewing
- On Screen Acting
During the remaining terms 2,3 and 4 of the FTV course you then specialise in a selected specialist skill field (see course curriculum below)
The aim is to really extend you with lots of practical work on the many industry-relevant projects or exercise that make up the FTV course.
Our goal is to ensure that by the end of the course you have the experience and confidence to go out and successfully compete for a job in the industry.
The FTV production course is an industry relevant, total immersion training course - it is hands on, full on. You live it, eat it, sleep it, then do it all over again the next day.
Total immersion is not for everyone - it's for people who want to work hard. Total immersion is feeling the heat at the centre of the action, surrounded by people who share it. It will propel you into something you love: your job. Imagine that! |
