The South Seas Film & Television School’s Diploma in Digital Photography is the latest addition to our range of intensive industry relevant training courses. They provide students with clear career pathways into the New Zealand and international film, television, animation, photography and media industries. The highly practical professional Digital Photography course is presently being finalised in time for the delivery of the first course on the 1st of August 2010. A second course will start at the end of January 2011.

The aim of the Diploma in Digital Photography course is to provide students with all the practical skills and knowledge necessary to work professionally in the field of digital photography.

While completing the course students will:
(a) Acquire knowledge about the essential technologies involved in the production of digital images.
(b) Work on practical projects that develop or extend their technical and creative photographic skills.
(c) Explore the role of photography in various new media applications and multimedia environments.
(d) Gain an appreciation of the potential of the medium of digital photography and an ability to analyse and evaluate their own and others' work in order to continue their development as photographers.

The course has been specifically designed to provide knowledge and skills in subjects that are fundamental to a successful career in digital photography. Course class numbers will be limited to 20 students in order to ensure that every student receives quality training. In the first three terms the course will provide a comprehensive introduction to, and practical experience in, carrying out the following major photographic Skills and/or Genres:
(a) Photojournalism including News, Sports, Live Events, Documentary and Travel photography.
(b) Commercial photography, including Fashion, Illustrative, Industrial and Scientific photography.
(c) Creative Fine Art photography including Portrait, Landscape, Exhibition and Fantasy photography.
