2011 Graduate Story

2011 Animation Graduate Nick Barber found his first opportunity to work in an animation studio, while studying during his 2nd year of studying toward his Diploma in Animation Production as a part of the schools new work experience program Nick submitted his character animation show-reel to Auckland based animation studio Yukfoo, where it was well received.
“Nick's reel showed plenty of potential, our Animation Leads were impressed with his skills right off the bat”. – Glen Real, Executive Producer, Yukfoo.
He was offered a work experience position with the studio, and has been busy gaining experience working on a range of commercial projects alongside a team of talented directors, artists and animators.
Throughout his studies at South Seas Nick showed great enthusiasm and passion for Character Animation, and had a very clear goal of working in this highly specialised area. Thanks to plenty of hard work learning the craft and honing his skills, not to mention lots of time spent animating after hours, he is well on track with his goal. Nick's time with Yukfoo has been extended and we are really pleased with the outcomes he has achieved.
“We are really pleased with how Nick has approached his time at Yukfoo, he has made a lot of effort to learn from our team, put in plenty of extra hours on projects and fitted very well into our team. He's an ideal intern who will fast-track his way into the industry without any doubt.”
