On the 25th of January South Seas welcomed the 2012 intake of Film, Television, Animation, Photography and On-Screen Acting students with a formal Maori Powhiri welcoming ceremony.
ThePowhiriwas delivered in Maori Te Reo and English language and the International Students from all round the world quickly adapted to the Maori protocols as they greeted South Seas tutors and staff with a Hongi (touching of noses) at the end of the ceremony. The Powhiri was followed with by a lunch time Barbeque held outdoors on a sunny warm summers day and then a series of cultural and icebreaker workshops where everyone enjoyed getting to know each other.
Registered as a private training establishment by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority under the provisions of the Education Act 1989 and its subsequent amendments.
